I just insert it on my CPU and.Woola¡ it recognize inmediately (I'm using Ubuntu 9.10) I just conect my Motorolla Bluetooth S9-HD and it sound wonderful also, so its a good product. This device is a necesity for those who share folder with the computer together with the cell phone.
Naturally it uses TOSHIBA bluetooth stack, but I use Windows bluetooth stack and it works without problems. Range is great, it itself is very small so you don't even notice it. I bought it to use with my Logitech diNovo keyboard/mouse/number pad and it works great. Love it. This is the third bluetooth USB dongle I've ever bought and by far the best one.
I find this product to perform exceedingly well at what it was designed for, no issues and it is usable with Linux.
Only complaint is the blinking blue light; I wish there was a way to turn it off.Highly recommend for compatibility and price. This svelte adapter delivered instant plug and play performance with Ubuntu, and will probably work out of the box with your GNU/Linux system as well.I'm using it to tether a Nokia E71 and everything works smoothly.
If you use Logitech devices this should work fine with the driver from Windows Update. I bought it to replace the big Logitech Bluetooth dongle that came with the diNovo Laser mouse and keyboard set, it was bumped and snapped off, oops. It's very small, I don't even need to take it out of the computer when putting it in my backpack. On Vista 64 Bit the supplied drivers work with the diNovo mouse and keyboard but not so much with the media pad (the display just says "Logitech", none of the music information or email previews work). Couldn't be happier with this Bluetooth adapter - an excellent replacement to the stock Logitech dongle All of the status information like battery status show up in the Mouse and Keyboard settings and the music and email preview works perfectly on the media pad. After I installed the drivers and checked Windows Update and there was a new driver available, when this one was installed (and I re-paired the devices) the media pad went back to the way it worked with the old Logitech dongle. It's got a little blue light on that blinks almost constantly. It's not annoying, just another led happily blinking away (about as bright as the HD indicator light on my HP Pavilion dv9827tl)So my suggestion is to use the drivers from Windows Update and leave the drivers that come with it in the box.
